The Antinori family have been making wine for over 600 years. It all began in 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri. Throughout its long history – 26 generations – the family have always run their business directly, often making innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always with a healthy respect for tradition and the land.
The fusion of centuries-old Tuscan and Umbrian traditions with modern innovation have made the Antinori family one of Italy's leading wine families. As Marquis Piero likes to say "ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit".
The estates in Tuscany and Umbria – the historic heartland of the family – have been added to over time, with other good wine-producing lands across Italy and abroad. These are especially fertile places for following new paths that seek the most of the 'terrior' and, more generally, of winemaking.
